For our Junior Project we were tasked with creating a driving simulation for the Cadillac XT6 2020. This project in retrospective was a LOT more fun that I thought it would be. It was the first project that I spear headed as Project Lead and as a result was able to use my knowledge in programming and 3D art to take the project in a feasible direction. For this project I acted as both programmer and art lead and spent the duration of my time on the project working on retopology as well as refining the driving controls in a manner that would make sense to our target demographic.
few things worth noting: The original car asset as well as much of the environment was provided to us by Cadillac. However, we handled 100% of the programming and also worked on making the entire vehicle game ready. When we received the asset from Cadillac it was around 2 million tris and would not run on a mobile device. As project lead, I sought to teach the art side of our team proper baking techniques so we could take the model and reduce down to around 50,000 tris while transitioning much of the original texture work through ID map baking. The whole process was a challenge but the results show our dedication. We had a great team, so I would like to link their artstations here:
